Picture perfect flag-inspired fruit tart
I’ve made this little tart for so many American holidays and with Memorial Day coming up, I wanted to share this simple sweet treat with you. It’s pretty, flag-inspired and a tasty addition to your family gatherings and celebratory picnics, and in the heat of the summer, it’s a light dessert that won’t weigh you down.
God bless America and God bless the families of our service men and women who payed the ultimate sacrifice. We honor you and your loved one this Memorial Day and every day.
Ingredients:
1 refrigerated pie crust, room temperature
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (8-ounce) container sour cream
¼ cup sugar
Fresh strawberries, cored and thickly sliced
Fresh blueberries
1 (13-ounce) can sweetened whipped cream
Directions:
On a large baking sheet (with no sides), shape piecrust into a rectangle and bake according to directions on the package. Cool thoroughly on baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix together cream cheese, sour cream, and sugar. Spread filling evenly on cooled, baked crust.
Layer fruit in the American flag design, alternating strawberry slices with whipped cream for the stripes, and for the stars, fill in the area with blueberries and dot whipped cream throughout. Chill and serve.
Nan’s Notes: Use a baking sheet with no sides so that you can easily slide the tart onto your serving dish.
